About the author

Mark Janzen grew up on a farm outside Elbing, Kansas, where driving was both a necessity and a rite of passage. A lifelong car enthusiast and self-taught mechanic, he began repairing and modifying vehicles as a teenager and developed a deep appreciation for the machines that helped shape American life. Over the years, Mark built a multifaceted career that included teaching, IT consulting, and family farming—all while raising three children with his wife, Hennie. Now retired, Mark lives in North Newton, Kansas, where he continues to tinker, write, and reflect on the road that brought him here.
